What.
Love Loss and Loyalty is an exhibition that uncovers the scandal, pain and death surrounding the Heide Museum of Modern Art. Sunday and John, the main characters behind Heide, were entangled in a web of affairs, relationships and trouble yet despite this, their love and relationship persisted. This forms the basis for the story told within the exhibition, inviting the user to delve into the enigmatic characters and stories behind them using augmented reality. The exhibition highlights modern technologies potential as a storytelling tool to enhance the user experience.
Design thinking.
The space introduces five main characters, displaying their artwork in a traditional exhibition style. Coloured fabric, representing heartstrings, hangs from the ceiling, linking the main characters and their famous love affairs. The characters are positioned so that Sunday and John become the focal points, seated at the entrance and exit, reminding the viewer that their relationship endures and bookending the story told throughout the exhibition.
Through the AR element, users uncover lesser-known love affairs, marked by red ribbons connecting new characters. These ribbons, symbolising heartstrings, highlight how these stories tug at emotions and create deeper connections within the narrative.
